Legacy Athletics and Intramurals

Athletics

Legacy school spirit always runs high when our students compete in an after school athletics program with other area schools in a range of team sports including basketball, flag football, volleyball and indoor soccer.
Students in grades 4-6 compete in the Santa Clarita Valley Private School League. In this league, Legacy teams compete against local private schools such as Pinecrest, Trinity, OLPH, and Santa Clarita Christian. Legacy teams won championships in boy’s flag football, basketball, and indoor soccer during the 2008-2009 school year.

Students in grades 7-8 compete in the Valley Christian Athletic League. This is Legacy’s inaugural year in the VCAL, with teams competing in flag football, basketball, and indoor soccer. Opponents include Grace Community, Grace Brethren, Trinity, Santa Clarita Christian, and St. Luke’s Lutheran.

In addition to these offerings, Legacy will be offering an after school cross-country club and swimming club during the Spring of 2010.

Intramurals

One of the exciting components of the Legacy sports program is lunchtime intramurals. Throughout the course of the school year, students in grades 3-8 can sign up to participate in lunchtime flag football, basketball, soccer, and kickball. Students are grouped together on teams, and generally compete in four or five regular season games in each sport. Grades 3-5 compete during one lunch period, with grades 6-8 competing in a separate lunch period. Along with giving students the physical benefit of participating in a sport, the intramural sports program also encourages teamwork and cooperation.
